Grover Norquist To Obama: Extend Bush Tax Cuts Or Be Impeached | Addicting Info

You almost have to admire the chutzpah of Grover Norquist. For a man with no elected office and lacking the billions of the Koch brothers, Norquist exerts a phenomenal amount of influence on American politics. From his ability to force the entire GOP to pledge not to raise taxes under any circumstances (except on the Middle Class and poor, of course) to his latest act of arrogance in essentially threatening the President of the United States, Norquist is quite sure of himself.

In an incredibly smug and self-satisfied interview with the National Journal:

NORQUIST Obama can sit there and let all the tax [cuts] lapse, and then the Republicans will have enough votes in the Senate in 2014 to impeach. The last year, he’s gone into this huddle where he does everything by executive order. He’s made no effort to work with Congress.

Wow. Let’s ignore, for a moment, that the Right Wing working definition of “made no effort to work with Congress” is “give us everything we want or we will bring the gears of government to a standstill.” Just focus of the threat of impeachment.

The Constitution lays out the rules for impeachment as follows:

The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.

Norquist in translation is treason.

In the future, all Quislings will be known as Norquists.

The arrogant ah may very well let his big mouth over load his fat a$$ once to many times and find himself the center of a FBI investigation. You just don't threaten the President of the US, idle or not, and not expect to get some response, and usually not that good. I would truly love to see that idiot get investigated, and let the limelight shine on all his underhanded and dirty dealings that the GOPTeaBags exposed. The pledge is not the only thing that Norquist is holding over their heads. The pledge itself would be much to easy to walk away from, even threats of 'primarying' them. That would be too easy to walk away from.

Nopers...you can bet your bippy that smarmy toad faced worm Norquist has a lot more on them then the pledge, and it ain't good.

He has let his own aura of self importance and control with the GOPTeaBags go to his head and give him a false sense of invulnerability, so much so that he feels he can publicly threaten the President with impeachment, when there are no grounds, and no hope that such a thing would ever happen. No matter how much hold he has over the GOPTeaBags, there would not be enough of them who would be willing to put their stamp on that one to have a sufficient number of votes for impeachment. And even if the House did vote to impeach him, there is no way the Senate would cast him out of office. They didn't Clinton after the House impeached him. And I am sure the Senate would do any different with Obama. And the stigma of such an unjustified attempt to impeach the President without sufficient grounds by the GOPTeaBags would be seen as nothing more than a racist based political ploy that would backfire against those who voted for impeachment and the stigma would stick with them the rest of their life, and could very well end their political career. So there is really not much chance that Norquist can make good on his threat of impeachment.

It seems that one of the candidates has magic underwear - Maybe he will borrow them and cast a spell which changes the Constitution more to his liking.

I doubt he can help too many of 'm 99. They pretty much have hurt themselves beyond the help of Norquist.
